Ladlad lit nite
at Mag.net Katipunan

Ang Ladlad – the national organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender Filipinos – is sponsoring a Lit Nite at Mag.Net
Katipunan on Oct. 13, Monday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The Lit Nite will feature readings of new poetry and short prose
dealing with issues relevant to the LGBT community. Short film-
makers with LGBT films are also invited to the event.

J. Neil Garcia and Danton Remoto of the ground-breaking and best-selling Ladlad anthology of Philippine poetry will read from their new work. Garcia teaches at UP Diliman while Remoto teaches at Ateneo de Manila University.

De La Salle University associate professor Ronald Baytan
will also read from his new book, The Queen Sings the Blues.

UP Film Institute's Libay Cantor will also read selections from her short story.

An open mike session of LGBT poetry and prose will follow.

Ang Ladlad was founded in 2003 to support the passage of the Anti-
Discrimination Bill in Congress. It also does counseling, legal, and
media-monitoring work for the LGBT community, as well as help in
holding the annual Pride March every December. On the other hand, Mag.Net Katipunan is shaping up as a cultural center in the
Katipunan University Belt. It sponsors poetry readings, film
showings, bands, and art exhibits of both up-and-coming and
established artists.

Inquiries can be addressed to Danton Remoto at danton_ph@yahoo.com or to Rock Drilon at rock@drilon.com
