Severance

Now, my friend, I have come to realize the reason for my deep-seated hurt for the demise of our friendship.

It's because we held hands, dreamt together, dreamt big, and suddenly you bailed out on me, leaving me with our dream, our hopes, our goals of changing part of the world. But you let go, my friend, you let go.

You let go of my hand.

And this is why you know that dreams, when abandoned, get ruined, irreparable, like the friendship we had, the connection I once upheld before any other.

Like what the Indigo girls sang, "and there's not enough room in this world for my pain." I always thought it was a love song. Never knew it could apply to a friendship once cherished, now gone.

And I have come to realize that, too. Of course there's not enough room in this world for my pain, for mourning shattered dreams. That's because our dream, my friend, was out of this world.

But you let go of my hand.
