i want my mtv...to be me! ngyak + other artstuff n pridestuff

rest muna ko no after that haggard errand running yesterday until night. tama nah! so chilll out muna akesh with my trusty new laptop and chilled in front of mtv with my morning rituals.

type ko yung "future" vid ng dicta license at urbandub. i caught the video making special and its concept is really nice and good. kaya lan ayoko lang yung paistar na epek na isa-isang ipo-pokus yung mga bandmembers as if they're all recognizable entities by their face values. tapos nakatayo lang sila doon at walang ginagawa kundi magpapogi, magpakyut o mag-emote as if they're deep thinkers. weh. ano yan, ONE campaign? dapat binigyan sila ng business hello. nakatayu lang dun. sus.

oh well. tapos may sumunod na THE SOUND OF MUSIC excerpt, at "lonely goatherd" pa ang sampling! i asked, sino'ng baliw ang gagamit ng lonely goatherd as sample? enter gwen stafani, na obyus na nagta-tumbling for attention sa video na to (forgot the title, basta look for the one where she's spoofing the sound of music, complete with the pagtatahi ng kurtina as von trapp kids playclothes scene!). syempre kelangan tumambling ng lola mo kasi napag-iiwanan na siya at eat da dust na lang siya ni fergie! ala e, mas may spunk si fergie e, minus her OA-pasexy chenelyn, pero forgivable ng konti ksi galing sya sa ganung background sa black eyed peas so puwedeng tiisin. ala eh, mas catchy ang "london bridge" kesa sa "hollaback grrl" chenes panu ba yan. dethrone ang drama hehe. e kung mag-duet kaya sila? mas patok pa. tapos hilahin din nila si nelly furtado at i-reform ang lolang nawala yata sa kakapasyal sa cosmetics department ng rustans at sa mega-mahal pero slight chaka fashion clothes stores sa rockwell in between james cooper parlor sessions.

lonely goatherd???? i swear... tataas kilay ng mga upfi faculty diyan na die-hard sound of music fans hehe. oo may fanclub sa faculty na ganyan hehe. hulaan niyo kung sino. never in a million years niyong mahuhulaan...

hmm, uso din yata ang "revive my own old song for new publicity chenes" mode. hulaan na lang kung sino to. praise da lord!

commercial: aarrgh sarap sanang pumunta sa opening ng photo exhibit ng friendship bukas, kundangan lang kasi e sa tagaytay! ati, wala na akong magic kahon to drive there! oh well. congrats na lang po kay visual artist IRMA LACORTE.

here's da pr:

Threesome in Tagaytay - an art exhibit of new works by irma lacorte, henry cainglet and lito mondejar at the magallanes square tagaytay beside figaro cafe. opens 5pm december 1.

commercial ulit: everyone's invited to the opening of the UPFI's annual CINE VERITAS HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL on december 5 at 7pm. the free gala screening of the malaysian-banned semi-musical docu THE LAST COMMUNIST will open the fest. come one, come all. taralets bagets! the fest will run until dec9, sat.

but wait!

 pride2006

pasensiya na raya. di ko sure if i will be able to catch your orchestra-laden closing film. sayang. mas gusto ko atang rumampa hehe. once a year lang kasi to e. and this year is important, lalo na't may eleksyon next year. hm, san ba ko? be a drag king and go with the girlies sa lwordgroup or wear pink and go with angladlad? decisions, decisions...

o sha, naderail na rin naman ako ng commercials, dedma na sa videos. saka na lang ulit. vegetarian mode na naman akesh at lafang muna. hay, i miss meat... pero sabi nga ng isa kong friend, "you're a vegetarian now? Now you're a REAL lesbian!" :P hahaha honga noh. in the western context, that is.

reflections on the community chorva

I do hope that all of us will elect officers and party list nominees whose track record in serving our community, the women's movement -- in which I take pride in being one of its pioneers, and the people's social movements, is beyond suspicion. People with dazzling words and technical lingo are not necessarily the best leaders for our community; trapos often are glib tongued. Let us watch out for those who have joined our ranks to pursue personal agenda using our party. I hope all of us will be much more discerning.

may sense naman, di ba?

kaya nga last saturday, i went out of my way and put my apolitical stance aside muna and attended the ANG LADLAD national convention and voted for the hopeful partylist's top 5 partylist rep hopefuls and the party/organization's new set of officers. and i'm so glad that most things turned out the way we wanted. well, except for one position. irked ako doon kasi wala nang ibang viable candidate kaya yung di pa karapat-dapat ay nanalo. sayang. oh well. andun naman ang ibang reliable advocates to reign these new and loud ones in, eventually. so okay na rin.

at sabi pa rin ni tita aydz:

I am confident that our party will vote for women and men who are of unblemished and high standard of integrity, decency and honesty both in their private and public lives.

again, makes sense. kaya di na dapat kuwestiyunin ang karamihan. majority rules in a democracy, di ba? kaya nga di ko na kinuwestyon pa yung isang position eh. di bale nang a candidate i did not like won, basta ba magampanan niya ang duties niya ng tama, at walang kakonyohan sa buto't balat, lalo na sa utak. you know what i mean.

after all, sabi nga nila sa egroup:

Be happy. Negative vibes are not welcome. Ang Ladlad people are very happy people. :)

o, so dapat wala nang nega pa ever. kaya wag nang kwestyunin ang mga--sorry to reiterate this--may track record sa advocacy 'ika nga ni tita aydz. in this kind of race, sustained credibility is the key to joy and happiness? hehe. nah, i mean key to a better party. yes, sustained credibility, not flash-in-the-pan media upsurge fandom mentality.

happy! hehe. at eto na naman, ang taunang samahan ng mga byutipul pipol with sustained credibility who mesh well with heartfelt newbie advocates...

rampa na ulit!

tuition hike chenes? eto ang chika.

to my students: would you rather i go abroad and work for some dumbass white supremacist dude than teach the lot of you to be creative filmmakers and advocates?

The government has allocated lower and lower subsidies to the university each year. As a consequence, the UP administration has been looking into income-generation schemes. It was only recently that Roman’s administration began actively pushing for a tuition increase, which she described as the “last step” in UP’s efforts to improve its financial viability.

“Of course [students] are opposed to it. For them, it’s a philosophical question. They’ll retain their stand, and so will we. Even in Cebu, one student said, ‘No matter how you explain, we won’t agree,’” Roman said.

read more here .

sabi sa tv news, gagamitin din ang dagdag sa tuition sa sweldo ng mga guro. alam niyo bang -- and this is to quote sir danny arao, who was similarly quoted sa inq7 artik above and who joined the protest din eysterday -- we are losing out to ateneo because the good journ practitioners daw na gusto nilang kunin e sa ateneo nagtuturo dahil mas mataas ang bayad. same with the practitioners we wanna get here to teach film.

hay sa totoo lang kids, nalulunod na talaga sa corruption ang gubyerno. e gubyerno iskul tayo e. so talagang biktima tayo. the peyups president is just being realistic kasi alam niyang kahit maghubad at mag-tumbling siya sa harap ng committee on education chenelyn sa malakanyang at humingi ng raise habang naglalakad sa bubog at bumubuga ng apoy sa bibig, di siya papansinin. let's be realistic. alam na nating walang patutunguhan ang gubyernong kasalukuyan kasehodang humingi tayo ng increase sa educ budget, decrease sa defense budget, at justice sa human rights killings. wit. wala. nyet. nada. non. kaya kelangan na rin nating kumana ng sariling kana para mag-survive. which is what most of your teachers here are doing now. alam niyo bang nalilimas na sa profs ang european languages dept? they opt to work sa multilingual call centers. your masscom profs? they opt to work in the entertainment and media industry. your science profs? they opt to work in the labs of foreign companies. your arts and letters teachers? they opt to teach in foreign universities in korea, singapore, the US, UK, canada and australia. my good friend who is a brilliant filipino writer is now trying to apply for a canadian immigration chenes.

okei?

starting things with a banggggggggggggggggg

Resign from Human Rights Committee, Rep. Abante urged

The Lesbian and Gay Legislative Advocacy Network (LAGABLAB-Pilipinas), a network of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender organizations and activists, condemned today Manila Representative and House Committee on Human Rights Chair Bienvenido Abante for "his homophobia and atrocious ignorance of the basic principles of human rights." Yesterday, Rep. Abante questioned AKBAYAN Rep. Etta Rosales's sponsorship of HB 637, a proposed bill that seeks to penalize discrimination against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBTs).

LAGABLAB said that Abante's ridiculous opposition to a human rights measure like the Anti-Discrimination Bill betrays a fundamental disregard and disrespect of his mandate as the Human Rights Committee chair. "He should resign from his position if he himself cannot grasp the universality of human rights and human dignity," LAGABLAB Sec. Gen. Jonas Bagas said. "He should also undergo human rights education to understand that in our Constitution and in various international human rights agreements that the Philippines signed, equal protection from discrimination is guaranteed for all, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity."

"How can he promote human rights when he has no sense of empathy and compassion? Human rights are about recognizing that regardless of our differences and our diversity, we are all equal. Obviously, Rep. Abante has not experienced what it is like to be abused or to be discriminated," Bagas added.

LAGABLAB said that lesbians and gays lose their jobs, get expelled from schools, and experience physical abuse because the society still treats them as second class citizens. "There are narrow-minded people like Rep. Abante who help deepen the stigma against homosexuals. There are parents who beat their presumably gay or lesbian children to 'correct' their homosexuality or to stop them from cross dressing. When they're thrown away from their homes, or when homosexuals lose their jobs, they have to deal with discrimination's inhumane consequences," Bagas said.

Bagas also chided the solon for spreading false information on the bill. "The Anti-Discrimination Bill will not allow for the legal recognition of same-sex marriage. It is only about curbing discriminatory practices and policies. To claim otherwise is to commit a grave lie," he explained.

He clarified, however, that not all religious people or religious organizations are as bigoted as Rep. Abante. "During the 12th Congress, the bill was supported by other religious organizations, specifically the NCCP/UCCP and Iglesia ni Kristo. We in LAGABLAB are aware that there are religious denominations that are opposed to homosexuality but are nonetheless in solidarity with the LGBT community in protecting their rights and freedoms," Bagas said. He added that other human rights organizations are supporting and campaigning for the bill's passage, among them Amnesty Internation, Human Rights Watch and the International Commission of Jurists.

LAGABLAB is urging lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders to write protest letters to Rep. Abante (visit www.lagablab.wordpress.com/). "We will campaign against him in his own district and his own city. We don't take bigotry sitting down, especially those coming from public officials who enjoy the privileges provided by the taxes that we pay," Bagas warned.

LAGABLAB urged Congress to expedite the approval of the Anti-Discrimination Bill. "We've been pushing for this for six years. We urge the leadership of the House of Representatives to pass the bill before the end of the month. We also urge Senator Bong Revilla, who authored the Senate version of the bill, to push for its approval in the Senate. The plight of the LGBT community should not be ignored," Bagas appealed.###

press release from LAGABLAB two days ago.

dapat ang pangalan ng rep na yun ay ATRAS dahil sa pagka-backward lang naman ng taong iyon oo. nabasa na niya kaya an actual document ng international human rights convention chuvaness? i'm guessing NOT! ang tanga niya. hay nakuh. why do we have the wrong people in the most crucial positions? ano kanyo? like the presidency? teehee.

oh well. if it's not one bluffer, it's another.

just watched CASINO ROYALE earlier with me mum and i realized that all the james bond portrayals have been bluffs for me. as in, i grew up watching these daper englishmen portray a superhero-like spy. ganda ng material, ganda ng characterization but daniel craig's portrayal made james bond more human for the first time. he didn't appear like a character out of an espionage novel, lam mo yun? he's a real thinking, feeling human being--with a fit body, fast wit and to die for carsssssss. and of course the bond girls. may dimension din ang major bond girl dito although i found the minor bond girl majorly HOTTTTTT. as in. yung parang indian-looking girl na asawa nung isang semi-villain. hot hot hot! whew. i am such a lez.

been bluffing a lot myself these past few weeks. i am in the process of hunting for a new place to rent as living quarters for, oh maybe 2 years or so. so of course i have to practice my bluffing skills together with my bargaining skills. conclusion? i think i'm getting too old for this kind of stuff, but i really don't mind. not at all. well, wish me luck with this chorva. it's the major chorva eating up my energies these days really. as in. you have no idea. gluttony pare. gluttony. at may gusto akong pataying pinsan.

like bond, also did a few gambles of my own. una na nga yung binalikan ko yung pagdidirek sa tv kahit advise ng doktor dati eh eliminate all stress-inducing chorva sa life ko because of my high choles count. hay nakuh. pero i just came from a second check-up and glad to say na nag-improve na naman an health chenelyns ko. kaya okay na rin.

isa pang gamble? deloading ng teaching units. to write my masteral thesis. buti na lang it paid off. yey.

i wish i can gamble my way into india rin this march. ten days lang chong, is all. wish me luck.

happy realizations lately? hm, nothing major. isa lang siguro. buti na lang hindi ako married with children. wala, reactionary ek lang sa mga family values home set-up na nakita ko sa apartment hunt ko. ang mga anak ko lang ay ang mga libro, litrato, musiccds at dvd ko. at ang asawa ko ay ang camera at computer ko. but i still love kids, don't get me wrong. just dont wanna have my own.

realistic realizations lately? isa siguro. hindi ako magiging mayaman ever. but i really don't give a shit about this.  money's just for buying good food, tickets to travel and gadgets to bring around. c'est tout.

regrets? isa lang. hindi ko napanood ang THE GOOD BODY na bagong play ni eve ensler na ini-stage ng new voice company! grrr sayang. sana may rerun!

isa pa palang regret. i should be more coldhearted in dealing with things. lumalambot na naman kasi ako e. dapat hindi na. para wala nang abala sa isip at kaluluwa.

and don't let songs with words that sound like basta't tayo'y magkasama/laging mayroong umagang kay ganda or panalangin ko sa habambuhay/makapiling ka/makasama ka/yan ang panalangin ko or if i could/then i would/i'll go wherever you will go/way up high or down low or any similar crap get to me. especially this holeydaze season.

bah humbug mode on.

okay huling hirit na ng gabi. to quote a friend "ang galing ni lord! pati mya lesbyana naipapakasal niya." hahaha. naalala ko lang. nakatunganga ako sa mtv kasi at nakarinig ng lumang kantang may bagong rendition. poignant? ewan. basta ako, proud ako sa aking past. and present. bilang lesbyana. :)
