tired but fun: some prod notes and lyf upd8s

having a tired but fun birthday month, so far. daming ginagawa pero dami ring nagawa, and i'm glad. update ko lang kayo ng kaunti.

kahapon marami-raming info na nakuha kami nina lensk, my former officemate, when we joined the i-blog summit again, the 2nd one by the UP internet and society sa UP law. okay naman kaya satisfied pero di ko na masyadong tinapos nung huli kasi my tummy's not feeling well na.

wanted to go back to working out sana this week pero medyo thrown off ako ng sked. but i started walking again ng 2 days na kaya happy na rin. di lang ako makatsamba sa boxing enrollment kasi hagip ang skeds nun ng current skeds ko. kaya next time na lang. or by late may. excited na kong mag-box ulit.

kala ko kasi medyo relaxed this week at walang shoot dahil show outing ng LOVELY DAY pero may shoot pala ng spiels dun kaya kelangan ko sumama. eto nga ang mas pinagkakaabalahan ko lately. production na pagod pero masaya naman kasi masaya ang mga tao. mga mahirap nga lang utusan ang ilang tao na siyang critique rin ng ibang nakakataas pero i guess it's called generation gap.  iba talaga ang mga panahon namin. medyo ewan ko lang kung ano nangyari sa mga kabataan ngayon at di sila ganoon mabilis kumana ng mga bagay-bagay. oh well, maybe in 5 years' time puwede na...

pero overall, masaya. parang kanina, nag-shoot kami ng spiels sa orchidarium sa luneta. happy naman. some STARSTRUCK AVENGER gurl was our guest star, at ni hindi ko siya kilala hehe. pero masaya namang idirek. mabilis ang pick-up at game mag-campy acting ng mga fashionistang biatch villain archetype ng show hehe. swak siya. nasayahan yata at sabi niya sa uulitin, so bet naman. :) at least yung starstruck-er na yun, matinong bata, di tulad ng iba riyan... howelllll....

saka i'm trying to compete with myself. pinapaikli ko ng pinapaikli ang shooting time ng spiels. i'm trying to see kung aabot ng below 3 hours ang shoot for a 12-minuter average spiel. kaya lang medyo mahirap kasi kelangang ikonsidera ang special effects shoot kaya maraming extra lockframe shoots and stuff. saka minsan kelangang ayusin yung lines at yung mga bata e di masyado memoryado ang script. but i guess that's okay kasi nga kids sila, mabilisan at tv style. nasanay lang siguro ko sa Premiere Production before where yung mga kid actors like tom taus e darating sa set na memoryado na ang mga lines ng sequences for the day. pero iba rin kasi ang system ng filmmaking sa premiere 'pag kay bos cirio santiago, hollywood. dapat on time, sundin ang call time at pro lahat ng aspeto, kaya yung ganyang sequence breakdown ay properly scheduled at sinusundan ng lahat. appreciate ko yung training na yun, kesa nga naman sa mangangapa ka pagdating sa set.

saka i also play with the camera angling and shots. parang yung kanina, pinaikutan ko ng 360 degrees yung villain para maiba naman. saka para visually playful yung show. kelangan kasi e, di masyadong attractive yung location kanina at yung story per se. i hope it works.

but i'm excited to see this saturday's show. eto yung la union surfing show na bumisita rin kaming grape farm. yummy! hindi ko na kasi inuupuan ng todo ang mastering hanggang matapos kasi kana na nila yun e. talagang direk lang ang work ko, up to editing the speils i directed and giving directions to the special effects dude. keri na rin. at least hindi babad doon.

well, off to two more shoots before the month ends. masaya naman pala ang magng treinta y tres. :) soon.

deep focus/re-focus

after being exposed to two major manypeeps-oriented thingies today, i came to very interesting conclusions about my own existence:

1. that i am, first and foremost, at peace with identifying myself primarily as a writer. and i think i'd rather focus on this aspect of my persona instead.
2. that i can live without people most times, contrary to what my ka-bday barbra sang (well, especially most of these people today!)
3. that my friend is right; i AM a staunch defender of sexual rights (as in GD mode minsan, but i've learned how to tone down naman e, esp if i'm in showbiz circles. kundi, mapapaaway talaga ko nun)

man. revelations. well. they're not a dime a dozen, but really, priceless kasi.

well. it takes ennui to bring out this self-critical thinker in me. bet na rin.

pet peeve #2 sa lyf

just need to vent this out.

dontcha hate those peeps who butt in sa conversation niyo ng ibang tao? okay sana kung may gentle paalam of sorts, e, even pakyut mode. pero wit! kung sasaksak lang siya bigla para mag-inject ng kanyang not needed wisdumb para to make you look and feel incompetent and not in the know, hay naku, tangina makakasakal ako ng tao.  devah!

when it pours, it rains (but not on a lovely day)

are women really doomed not to have it all?

was having this conversation with a friend weeks ago about how women seem to really have a hard time balancing their professional life and personal life.  we have always shirked upon this idea, even lambasting the men whenever they act so prissyfufuek when they reach home and have wifey wait hand and foot sa kanya. but when we actually felt it, man, we didn't know what to say and how to react. dumbfounded. if a woman gets busy with her career, the home life suffers a bit. if she focuses on the home life, the career gets sidetracked a bit naman. haysus...

and we're not talking about heterosexual couplings here ha. i'm talking about woman-woman relations. paano pag sobrang busy ang dalawang working woman, paano na ang home nila? forever take out food/eat out na lang instead of "luto with lab" sessions. hay i miss that. kaya it's best to settle with morning brewed coffee sessions na lang for now. bummer.

pero bakit nga kaya ganun? kelangan bang torn lagi pag may career at lovelife? observing my past life and my friends' lives, i can see na one woman tends to be the homebody chorva while the other is really the working late type. o kaya sasabit ang isa sa work lakad ng isa madalas, for support system na rin at saka...bantay? hehe not quite. bodyguard. togetherness thang lang. super bet yun, lalu na kapag pareho kayong nagtatrabaho sa isang raket or something. pero paano kapag hindi puwedeng isama ang isa sa work lakad? nasaan na ang quality time, especially kung ang trabaho ay hindi dinidiktahan ng oras at fixed sked? pano magkakatugma ang oras ng dalawang nilalang?

hay hirap. ladies, what can you say? parinig naman! wala lang, muni-muni mode lang ito. feel free to share. [baka dibdibin niyo na naman at kamustahin ako chorva. i'm fine ha.]

speaking of sharing, nagpapasalamat ako at mataas ang share ng LOVELY DAY last saturday. a good two whole points and some fraction higher than the competitor. in this ratings game, even a fraction of a share will do, and it counts a lot talaga. i'm glad.

yea i'm glad because i directed the episode's spiels, meaning all the non-segment parts (which is like almost 2/3 yata or maybe a little over half of the show) ay ako ang nag-direk. iyan ang bago kong raket ngayon, thanks to my college film barkadas who run the show na napagod na at kelangan ipasa ang renda sa iba.

the indefatigable host love añover. indefatigable is truly a understatement especially after you see her ride that aerobatics plane man. tangina think roller coaster ride 50x malala! yan ang pinagdaanan niya sa ep na to hehe...tapang ng lola! eto, mayabang pa siya kasi umpisa pa lang hehehe.

spiels director. so basically director na rin ng show. kasi sa segments, segment producers ang kumakana. tapos tinatahi na lang namin ng spiels.

for this first ep of mine, we went to the air force flying school in lipa, batangas. my exec prod cres' idea. naintriga sa sumisirkong eroplano sa ere. cute naman yung idea. the spiels writer let the plane anthropomorphize kaya siya na rin ang isang karakter. cres' brother the graphics fx genius did a good job of animating the cute orange plane.

sayang i missed the skydiving shoot after that. i so want to try that out pa naman hehe. syempre kapag nakapag-bungee jump ka na, ano na ang kasunod na thrill, devah? sayang kasi. may paper deadlines kasi that week kaya my other friend who pinch-hits as director din, took over muna. kaya yung ep this sat, hindi ako ang nagdirek. yung susunod na lang. sa la union 'ata kami shoot. surfing. yata.

we needed closer shots of the aerobatics plane so i asked for a crane chorva from the military dudes. they call this "man-lift." e panu pag babae? di na ko kasya kaya yung 2nd unit cam na lang pinasakay ko. turns out this dude has fear of heights pala hehehe. wawa.

don't worry if you haven't heard of the show. as my friends told me, hindi tayo ang target market ng show na ito. gumigising ba tayo ng 10am kapag sabado para manood ng tv? hinde. kaya keri lang. pero it won't hurt if you can watch. or at least turn on the tv when it's on. it helps with the ratings :)
